Assessments in ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ

³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ uses a comprehensive assessment system to provide helpful data to inform decisions that effectively impact student learning.

This includes data for:

  • Evaluating the effectiveness of curriculum and instruction
  • Guiding instruction and student learning
  • Identifying a student’s current level of learning and any additional supports that may be needed to maximize achievement
  • Measuring and progress monitoring toward mastery of standards

ASSESSMENTS FOR 2024-2025 

Formative Assessments – Continuous

  • Given to students in Kindergarten through 12th grade
  • Measures the students’ educational progress to ensure that each individual is working toward mastering the Nebraska State Standards or essential learning covered.
  • Examples of assessments may include tests, projects, labs, and/or presentations

FastBridge – Fall, Winter, & Spring

  • Taken by Kindergarten through 6th grade
  • Utilized to monitor the student’s educational progress in the areas of reading fluency and math
  • Utilized for progress monitoring for students who are receiving interventions and/or supports

American College Testing (ACT) – Spring

  • Taken by 11th graders 
  • Statewide assessment designed to measure college readiness skills
  • The test is made up of four subscores – Reading, English, Math, and Science – and the writing test.

PreACT – Spring

  • Taken by 10th graders 
  • Designed to measure college readiness skills
  • Scores can be utilized to predict how a student will perform when taking the ACT as an 11th grader.
  • The test is made up of four subscores – Reading, English, Math, and Science.

MAP – Fall, Winter, & Spring

  • Kindergarten through 11th grade
  • Measures student achievement and growth in the areas of English, Reading, Math, and Science
  • Teachers use the data to progress monitor over time.

Nebraska Student-Center Assessment System (NSCAS) – Fall & Spring

  • Taken by 5th and 8th graders in Science
  • Taken by 3rd through 8th in English and Math
  • State-wide assessment that measures academic proficiency related to Nebraska academic standards.

ELPA 21 – Spring

  • Taken by Kindergarten through 12th English Language Learners 
  • Composes of an initial screener and summative assessments
  • Statewide assessment that measures progress toward English Proficiency in the areas of listening, reading, speaking, and writing
