Engage in rigorous explorations of the past with the goal of developing a more nuanced understanding of societies and cultures while learning to be a skilled critical thinker, communicator and writer. You will graduate and, following completion of a bachelor's degree in history, qualify for a variety of employment opportunities including historical consulting, teaching, archivist work, writing and researching.

The History Transfer Major A.A. degree fulfills the first two years of a four-year degree at many Iowa Universities. Individual program courses may also transfer to other four-year universities. This program puts you on a successful path to earn a bachelor's degree.

Enrollment Process

  1. Apply for admission.
  2. Submit official high school, high school equivalency and/or college transcripts to the Admissions Office of the campus you plan to attend.
  3. Complete ACCUPLACER® reading and writing assessment and ALEKS® math assessment for course placement. Assessments may be waived based on previous college coursework or submission of valid ACT®, or SAT® test scores. Reading and writing scores are valid for three years, and math scores are valid for two years.
